Hey thanks ya I will try it out, I do have the machine and I wanted to use what I can with it, I would prefer something else to link with but it's all I have right now so why not ĭo I set the template on my machine to Mackie, if so I don't see it (08-19-2017, 11:17 AM)richhickey Wrote: (08-18-2017, 07:10 AM)Frank Wrote: (08-17-2017, 10:21 PM)mrskytown11 Wrote: Is there a way to control Mixbus with my native instruments Maschine, I would love to customize the pads and knobs for certain things in Mixbus, as well as control the dim and mute on the monitor section controls of Mixbus and other things, is there a way to create my own template and save it in Mixbus, i use Mac OS. I've got a Maschine MKII and Studio and have gotten them to drive many DAWs in MCU mode, including Mixbus, with great success. Then tell Mixbus that your Maschine is an MCU control surface. OP - go for it, start with the Mackie Control template. You might not choose Maschine over say an X-Touch for controlling Mixbus, but if you've already got one it's great to get this additional functionality w/o giving up any more space, and you can toggle between controlling Maschine and Mixbus by pressing 2 buttons. Since the OP said "my Maschine" he presumably already owns one and has space for it, and uses it for its original purpose as well. The fact that MCU logic (and Maschine's emulation) supports modifiers (shift/crtl/opt/alt) means you can get a lot more power per button as well. In addition, if the DAW allows for custom MCU mappings to be made in the DAW (as Mixbus does), they'll work too. Just say "button X on Maschine = button Y on MCU" and it will do whatever MCU button Y does. When paired with a DAW such as Mixbus that has extensive MCU support, you get a lot of power with minimal setup and mapping. These things are all a giant pain with generic MIDI controllers, when possible at all. The MCU mapping also understands the modality of the MCU, so buttons will light up and stay lit as would the MCU indicating the status of things. track names, levels, pan and eq settings etc. And the screens of Maschine in this mode will display the output of the DAW destined for an MCU, i.e. In addition to CCs and notes, the buttons and knobs of Maschine can send MCU messages, emulating the faders knobs and switches of an MCU. The key is to start with Maschine's Mackie Control emulation template. Maschine can and does work quite a bit better than the cheapest MIDI controller. In the controller editor one can see which control each button will send.īut it will be a box with a lot of buttons (56), no faders and about 8 continious controllers.Īnd it will work just as good as the cheapest midi controller. The maschine controller can be put in pure midi mode. Right now i can just mark 1 target to edit things.(08-18-2017, 07:10 AM)Frank Wrote: (08-17-2017, 10:21 PM)mrskytown11 Wrote: Is there a way to control Mixbus with my native instruments Maschine, I would love to customize the pads and knobs for certain things in Mixbus, as well as control the dim and mute on the monitor section controls of Mixbus and other things, is there a way to create my own template and save it in Mixbus, i use Mac OS. Its so much work to change the settings again and again in every single field.īy the way it would be really nice to be able to change absolute or realtive mode in resolume midi settings for all marked targets. I did a lot of testing but did not come to a conclusion and i would like to knwo whats best to mess with cause I also would like to knwo what are the best midi settings for the clips in resolume. In both ways the output works fine as long as i do not have a layer focused mapping to trigger clips the same time. If i make it gate i can let it work on absolute mode in resolume. If i make it trigger style i have to set it up as relative 0-127 in resolume to let it work more than one time. I tried to set it up as a gate or trigger. I decided to use CCs (Control Channel) instead of notes but i really get strange behaviour of the outputs.Ĭan CCs cause any trouble? Are notes better than CCs?Īnother thing is the style of the controller button. I would like to know what settings works best / most safe to trigger the clips in resolume. (I think it is not possible right now without making massive bome translator mapping).Īs some of u may know i can do a lot of controller side settings with the ni controller editor. I use Native Instruments controllers and work on a deck focused mapping for a maschine jam &Ī layer focused mapping for a maschine mkIīefore i was using only the mkI as a layer focused all in one controller but never was able to get the outputs working to how they should work. While working on my midi mappings i ran into trouble with correct outputs for playing clips on the controllers.
